Hydration is key!

Make sure your dog is cool mean keeping them well hydrated at all times! It’s really easy for a dog to become dehydrated in the summer heat, so keeping water handy at all times is key. Portable/collapsable water bottles for dogs are sold at pet stores and websites.

Don’t bring them out to much in the afternoon sun

The days it’s hottest outside, you should avoid taking your dog out for too long! Stay cool indoors, and if you must go out, avoid the hottest hours of the day (typically noon to about 3pm). Asphalt can burn your dogs paws if they are too hot!

Avoid leaving your dog in a parked car!

This should go without saying, but you should never leave your dog in a parked car under any circumstances. The temperatures inside a car parked in direct sun can get up to 170 degrees! The damage this could cause to your dog can be irreversible.

Get them wet!

Swimming, playing with a hose, or other fun water outside activities are a great way to keep your dog cool in the heat! Make sure to bring a towel also to keep your car clean and keep them dry!
